What is a certified translation?
A certified translation is an officially recognized translation of a document, prepared by an authorized or certified translator. It includes a certification statement, stamp, and signature, confirming that the translation is complete and accurate compared to the original document.
Certified translations are not simply literal copies; they follow established standards and must meet specific formal requirements to be accepted by authorities and institutions.
When do you need a certified translation?
A certified translation is required whenever official documents need to be submitted in a different language to an authority, court, or other official institution. Typical cases include:
- Birth or death certificates
- Naturalization or visa applications
- Marriage or divorce proceedings
- Enrollment at schools or universities
- Recognition of degrees or professional qualifications
- Company formation or commercial register entries
- Legal proceedings in Germany or abroad
Are translations from Veriword Translations accepted everywhere?
I am officially authorized by the courts and notaries of Saarland to issue certified translations. Although I am sworn in Saarland, my certified translations are recognized by authorities, courts, offices, and public institutions throughout Germany and Europe.
For use abroad, additional requirements may apply, such as an
apostille
or
legalization. I am happy to provide individual advice on this if needed.
How to receive your certified translation:
- Upload your document using the contact form.
- I will then send you a personalized quote for the certified translation.
- You confirm the quote by completing the corresponding payment.
- Once payment is received, I will process the translation and send you the final file as a PDF.
- You review the file and approve it for dispatch. Please note that no changes can be made after your approval.
- I will send you the original certified translation by post. You can choose between standard or insured shipping directly in the contact form.
